In the first global cultural nightlife exchange 14 countries in six different continents will exchange nightlife experiences in a single night. The night of 27 November 2010 will redefine global nightlife culture as the 14 different cities celebrate each other’s music, fashion, art and food as part of the Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project.
The South African event will be held at the Bellville Velodrome, in Cape Town, where South Africans will get a chance to experience Berlin’s nightlife culture.
Adrian Petersen, marketing manager of Smirnoff SA says, “This global event will also see the exchange of the best artists representing their home country in a different country. South Africa has sent Gazelle, the avant-garde band with a definitive South African musical taste, to represent the country in Berlin. Germany’s international DJ’s Monika Kruse, ATB and Markus Schultz will perform in Cape Town; this strong line up will deliver an impressive Berlin musical experience to compliment all the city’s elements at the event. The Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project is yet another demonstration of originality in everything we do; the event will be a one-of-a-kind global experience.”
Monika Kruse will take to the stage for the opening set, and will entertain the crowd with her talent and sensible musical feel – choosing the best song at the right time and creating an amazing and fantastic party vibe has brought her fast recognition. The two headliner acts for the night are ATB, well known for his single “9pm (Till I Come)” as well as his eight studio albums and five “in the mix” compilations, and Markus Schultz with his popularity at an all time high, but not one to rest on past successes; a determination, an appreciation of his fans’ support and drive to push boundaries, the Miami-based star is a global success.
Locally acclaimed DJs, Fresh and Euphonik, also the curators for South Africa’s Nightlife Exchange Project will perform at the event. As curators, the pair was responsible for selecting South Africa’s suggestions of the best of this country’s nightlife elements.
“The 12 other countries involved in this will also share their best of nightlife experiences, Smirnoff Nightlife Exchange Project has uncovered the best of global nightlife. The world will celebrate as 14 different cultures collide to create something original. People at the Cape Town event will enjoy all things Berlin, this event is also backed by state-of-the-art technological innovation. The interactive “Berlin Mirror” is a live stream enabled broadcast that will be a must-see and interactive feature to both events.”
“As part of our responsible drinking ethos we encourage all attendees to drink responsibly and refrain from drunk driving.
