Delish Burlesque Dining

The lights are dimmed and the candles lit, champagne flutes are filled while confetti glitters on the tables – this is a Burlesque Dinner Party in all its glory. As always. Delish was transformed into an intimate dinner theatre on the evening of 2 October 2014 in anticipation of the Burlesque dinner that was set to take place. With smiles on our face and excitement bubbling over, we settled into our chairs and sat back while we were whisked along the journey that was ‘Dining With Diva’ at Delish in Hout Bay.

On the three course menu for the evening was a selection of Springbok Carpaccio, Salmon Pate, Fillet Steak, Chicken Tagine, Risotto, Pecan Nut Tart and Strawberries and Meringue. In addition each table got a bottle of Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel Brut Rose to start the evening of glitz and glamour. The food was utterly delectable (some could even say delish) with a variety of no-carb and carb-friendly options available for guests to choose from. Our waiter looking after us for the evening was Blessed, a friendly and very clued up man with endless charm. Blessed charmed us with his knowledge on how to correctly handle a bottle of champagne as well as his excellent champagne popping skills.

The burlesque star of the night was Lady Bon Bon, a lovely and bubbly lady with a cheeky Burlesque personality. Lady Bon Bon began her burlesque career with Starr at her academy. Starting out, she knew nothing about burlesque and what it entailed. However, after her first few glove peels she fell in-love with it and has not looked back since. Claiming to be a naturally shy accountant by day, she told us that what she loved about Burlesque is that it help her come out of her shell. On stage she can be cheekier and really embody her character. After graduating from Starr’s class, Lady Bon Bon was asked to join Starr’s troupe and has now started to perform with Starr and the ladies when she can.

The Burlesque show was loads of fun with Lady Bon Bon and her troupe entertaining us all night with their sensual tongue-in-cheek show. There was feathers, glitter, sequin, gloves and endless laughs, it was truly a show not to be forgotten.

Keep an eye out on the Delish Facebook page as well as their website for their next burlesque show as well as other shows and dinner theatre experiences. You can also follow Black Orchid Burlesque HQ on Facebook for other Burlesque shows in and around Cape Town.
