PRESS RELEASE: UK Bloggers to hit the runway for the first time in the history of fashion. Blogger Edita Lozovska of pret-a-reporter joined forces with founder of Models of Diversity Angel Sinclair to reveal the beauty of the “real” woman. The campaign is on a mission to redefine the rules of fashion by embracing models of different race, shapes and abilities.
“I want African girls wearing Eastern European folk clothing, Eastern Europeans sporting African print, Indian girls in kimonos & Chinese beauties in saris. The time to embrace global beauty is long overdue.”
The Water Lily in East London will be dressed with glamour and excitement on Friday, 6th of September 2013, for Catwalk4change in an attempt to highlight the lack of diversity in fashion.
The inspirational fashion show will be held in two parts. The first part will showcase mature models, aimed to highlight the need for mature outlook in the fashion industry. By using the style of 50’s fashion, the show will express timeless beauty and experience of the mature models. The second part will feature UK bloggers showcasing collections of the hottest up-and-coming designers to promote multiculturalism, ethnic diversity, and positive image.
UK Fashion Blogger, Ruth Harrison says “I believe events like this are imperative if the face of fashion design and ideals are to change. Catwalk4change proves that you don’t have to be a size 0, you can be tall, short, over 35 and be a catwalk model. Fashion should be about having fun… what is fun about wearing clothes you (quite unrealistically) feel fat in? Normal everyday people shop for and wear the designs – why not showcase them in the same way?”
The show has also caught special attention of CEO of the British Fashion Council, Caroline Rush, who is fully supportive of the cause and excited to see the impact it makes and the issues it raises. California’s best petite model, actress and host Ann Lauren, will also walk the runway to celebrate diversity in fashion.
Guests will enjoy a night of upbeat fashion hosted by British Actress, Charlotte Avery, paired with excellent entertainment by pop legend Stacey Jackson and Stedman of 80s sensation Five Star . Joining us on the day are some sought after UK celebrities such as Alex Reid, Charlie Sims, Denise Walsh, Layla Anna–Lee, Lynda Bellingham, Jane Goldman and Sian Lloyd.
All funds raised from ticket sales will be donated to mental health charity MIND and cancer care charity MACMILLAN. Tickets are selling fast, we recommend buying tickets as soon as possible fromwww.modelsofdiversity.org/catwalk4change
