B@1 Hosts Big Sock Story for Mandela Day

B@1 Urban Cafe strongly believe in giving something back. This Mandela Day, 17th July 2015 B@1 Urban Cafe are hosting a Charity Event – The Big Sock Story, launched as an Inrichmint Media Mandela Day Initiative in 2013, in partnership with Imphala Clothing. The Big Sock Story Initiative is successful and enables 670 pairs of socks to be given to orphans at SOS Children’s Village in honour of Mandela’s 67 minutes of kindness.

B@1 Urban Cafe, located at 22 Bree Street in Cape Town, are proud sponsors of The Big Sock story. There will be an official event for Big Sock Story held at B@1 Urban Cafe on the 17th of July 2015, starting at 7pm. Entrance to this benefit is free of charge with an RSVP or R20 donation at the door. Entertainment in the form of both a DJ and a band, who have also kindly donated their time to support the event, will be playing throughout the evening. As well as that, there will be the official Auction which is hoped to raise a lot of funds to go towards the wonderful charity SOS Children’s Village. A cash kitchen which will be open until 9pm, with a special auction menu and a cash bar will also be available. Everyone is invited, including sponsors and volunteers and are encouraged to bring along friends, family, clients or business associates.

sockstory2As well as kindly hosting the event and donating their time and energy, B@1 Urban Cafe have also kindly donated tins of nesquik, boxes of tea, tins of coffee, 2 x 2kg Sugar Packets, 1 Box of Paper Cups & Lids, 1 Box of Paper Plates, 1 Box of Paper Serviettes all of which go directly to SOS Children’s Village.

The overarching objective of Mandela Day is to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good. Ultimately it seeks to empower communities everywhere.
