A Delish Dinner Party

Fade into a softly lit dinner party, jazz playing, chandeliers swinging and wine flowing with the lovely ladies from Black Orchid Burlesque putting on a cheeky show and you know that you have arrived at a Delish Burlesque Dinner Party – what a lucky person you. With much success in the past shows, Deli Delish will be hosting yet another delightful Burlesque Dinner Party in conjunction with Black Orchid Burlesque on Thursday, 2 October 2014.

Situated in Hout Bay, Deli Delish invites you from near and far to join them in an evening of tongue in cheek, comedic and sensual burlesque with great food and good company. On the menu for the evening is a 3 course meal of delish delights such as Springbok Carpaccio, Smoked Salmon Pate, Chicken Tagine and Fillet Medallions as well as sweet treats the likes of Pecan Nut Tartlets with Vanilla Ice-cream and Strawberry Meringue Crumble with Cream. What’s more, tables of over four will receive a complimentary bottle of Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel Rose upon arrival.

Although the food will be utterly delectable and the atmosphere divine too boot, we find ourselves asking – what is a dinner party without a little bit of burlesque? Luckily for us the ladies at Black Orchid Burlesque will be there to entertain us from start to finish. Having been formed in 2007, Black Orchid Burlesque is headed up by the lovely Diva Disastar (and her many alter ego’s). Diva Disastar prides herself as being the first burlesque figure in South Africa to be performing an authentic form of burlesque. Herself and her troop at Black Orchid Burlesque describe their style as neo-burlesque. A form of burlesque that incorporates a wider variety of performance styles, focusing on the ‘tease’ element of burlesque. Neo-burlesque seeks to refresh the more traditional American forms of burlesque, making it appeal to modern audiences. The Black Orchid Burlesque performance is described by the ladies as being a ‘theatrical tease’ incorporating elements of comedy, satire and cabaret.

The dinner party will start at 6:30 for 7 at Deli Delish in Hout Bay. Tickets can be bought from Quicket and cost R230 per person. Please do note that children should be left at home with their trusty babysitter as the show is a bit too sexy for the little ones. Bon Appetite!
